(Mods pls don’t delete this story has nothing to do with the Israeli Palestinian conflict)

Did you know that during Michael Jackson’s weird visit to Israel, he sparked massive religious riots and nearly got arrested for impersonating an IDF officer?

Michael Jackson visited Israel in 1993, performing two sold out concerts in Yarkon park in Tel Aviv. He then embarked on a massive tour of Israel, all the sites he visited closed to visitors in his honor. But the peak of his visit was his trip to the Israeli city of Petach T*kva where he visited the cancer ward of Schneider hospital and met with children who had terminal cancer. While meeting with the children, Michael would often wear an IDF air force captain uniform. Michael grew fond of the uniform and wore it for much of the rest of the trip. That being said, the rest of the trip would be a DISASTER.

It started with Michael’s attempt to visit the western wall, the holiest site in Judaism. When word got out that Michael Jackson would be visiting it on the Sabbath, massive amounts of ultra Orthodox Jews organized huge riots against Jackson. This was because Jackson was a Sabbath desecrator and allegedly had ties to occult stuff that these Jews didn’t like. The rioters created massive makeshift roadblocks out of dumpsters and tables, and refused to back down. Police were concerned that the riots would get out of control, so the Western wall visit was cancelled. The rioters had successfully defeated Michael Jackson.

The rest of the trip wasn’t much better. Michael planned on visiting the IDF base Bahad 12 (Tzrifin) and raising the morale of the soldiers there. He arrived there wearing his air force captain uniform. Yet the soldiers at the gate were furious at him for illegally wearing an officer’s uniform. They angrily told him that impersonating an officer was a serious crime in Israel and warned him that if he didn’t cease wearing the uniform, they would arrest him. Yet despite the stormy beginning, his trip to the base actually went pretty well.

Michael then planned to record a song with the IDF military band, but due to how much the paparazzi was annoying him, he cancelled it at the last moment and left Israel. Overall it was potentially one of his weirdest international trips.
