How many people are proud to be citizens of this beautiful country of ours?
The stripes and the stars for the rights that men have died for to protect
The women and men who have broke their necks
For the freedom of speech the United States government has sworn to uphold (Yo, I want everybody to listen to the words of this song)
Or so we’re told.

Twitter users really go out of their way to divide themselves and their allies every chance they get. Doing Fox News and the GOP’s job for them.

I’m exhausted and can’t even think people are going to start fighting for genuine change. They’re going to start fighting to make sure white people are comfortable again. Pretti being people’s final straw is more damning than encouraging.

Reminds me of the time when I was in college and police arrested one of the black students I knew because they “thought he was someone else”. I was shocked when it happened because he was one of the nicest guys I knew but another black student from my class just looked at me and said “You’re from the suburbs aren’t you?”.

“y’all didn’t care then” posts are often used to help convince people to not care now.
Idve loved to stop the Tulsa massacre but like…I was born in 1982? People are well aware of America’s racist past and how it has led to the racist present. Most of those people are powerless except their votes or their bodies, and are doing their best to fight a racist future.
I’m not saying it’s unimportant to say “this has happened before”. Of course it is important to know how we got here. But I’ve found myself in plenty of places as of late talking about how we stop a…I dunno, we’ll call it a “further racist future”…where the conversation gets derailed by people (understandably) angry at the past.
I dunno, maybe I’m just high. But I smell something…

My concern is that their fix is most likely to go back to a time when it only happened to our side, while they comfortably ignored it. The needle on the broken record needs to move far and not just stop at us.
The other thing is that we need to stop calling the actions the Gestapo, because that sounds also comfortably foreign. They are literally using the tactics from the days of the Slave Patrols, and those that know history are already aware that the N-Z-S adopted what they learned from the racist actions in America. The USA taught them how to channel their hate.
Like that one person on Threads that said “I wish we could go back to regular police brutality” ….

This is not “rage-bait” as those who are not the B of BPT would say. This is an uncomfortable truth some of us have to confront ✋and one that a lot of us have had no choice but to live with for decades unfortunately 🤚

Fight the Power by Public Enemy was 36 years ago, we’ve BEEN saying that people in power are corrupt, but no one cared. Then, they saw the corruption of this man in his first term and still decided to run it back 🤦🏽♂️

This isn’t Germany 1940. This is who we are as the United States. We don’t need to compare it to Germany. We’ve done atrocious things throughout the history of the US.

Crazy that after so many white people showed to protest alongside BLM that so many black people seem unwilling to empathize with white people in turn. Did Alex prettis murder just not count or something?

*This isn’t us*
400-500 years of evidence says otherwise
They’re not lying though. Never in American history have they seen anything like this but “anything” means:
White American citizens who aren’t on drugs, or poor, or any other disqualifier they typically use to marginalize people.
And “this” means:
Being brutalized and murdered by law enforcement like they normally do to people of color, poor or marginalized.
