I wonder how many times Trotsky unknowingly ate food that someone else had spat into

    1. I understand not giving tips personally, but persuading others to do the same is insane levels of hating

    2. He’s right in theory but wrong in execution.

Personally I’ll only tip people who’s wages depend on it (waiters and bartenders).

Any place else I’ll happily press skip or 0.

My understanding is that it wasn’t just Stalin hating him as a political rival but that all the other Soviet leaders thought Trotsky was insufferably annoying.

When his assassin was released from prison in Mexico, Khrushchev brought him to the Soviet Union and gave him a medal.

The real question is how many times did he *knowingly* eat food that had been spat into? 🤔

    5. Looking at the American tipping culture today and how some workers there are fully dependend on tips I would say he was very well aware of the problem.
Not that tipping is bad in general, but employers do very much abuse it

    6. He is absolutely right though. Go spit in your employers food. I will never tip a single cent.

He’s right in the fact people shouldn’t need tips

But sometimes the minimum wage workers need it
