More than 10,000 years ago, in what is now White Sands National Park in New Mexico, a woman made two journeys across a soft, muddy landscape, leaving behind footprints that still survives today [1200×900]

Iirc this could be quite a haunting archaeological find.

They were able to ascertain from the depth and stride of the footprints that the woman had a small child walking with her at certain points all in one direction.

She would also pick up the child and carry them as sometimes the child’s steps disappear and her own footsteps get deeper on one side, leading them to believe at times she was carrying the child on her hip.

They go on for some distance like this in one direction, then the woman’s footprints are seen in the returning direction with no child footprints or change in the depth of her stride (I.e. Didnt appear to be carrying the child on the way back).

So it appears a lone woman and young child took a long journey for some reason, and then only the woman returned. Quite sad to think of the possibilities really.
