I really don't understand this. The strike is going to have zero effect on ICE or CPB or the tyrant administration. The people it's going to hurt are local workers and businesses.

    1. no business is forced to participate. many people are aware that the “no shopping” is not referring to small business. general strikes have been shown to have a large economic impact on big corporations, and an even larger impact on awareness of an issue.

you dont agree and thats okay.. but a day long general strike isn’t going to put any small business owners under. especially since it was already probably projected to be a slow day with the weather.

TLDR: pros outweigh the very few cons

    2. Probably should have stopped at “I don’t understand this”.

      And maybe not post it.

Maybe ask if you don’t understand.

      Participation is voluntary.

You could deal with a one day disruption to your precious routine.

    4. A community coming together to say “we don’t like this” is hurting the community?

    5. Do not sell out your hard earned Liberty in the name of rounding up criminals. Your rights as an American are being infringed.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” – Ben Franklin

Back the Blue! If you haven’t seen this, its huge, LE calling out ICE on constitutional issues. It would be front page news if it wasn’t for nuking Greenland: SHARE IT EVERYWHERE: [Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley: “We’re hearing people being stopped with no cause & being demanded to show paperwork to determine if they’re here legally. We started hearing from our police officers the same complaints. Every one of these individuals is a person of color…it has to stop” : ](https://www.reddit.com/r/minnesota/comments/1qib372/brooklyn_park_police_chief_mark_bruley_were/)[r/minnesota](https://www.reddit.com/r/minnesota/

Door to Door raids by masked federal agents, detention and assault on law abiding citizens – without cause. Pepper spraying peaceful protesters? AYFKM? This is a bipartisan nightmare.

If your’re not on r/minnesota get on it.

It’s a minor gesture on a day that no one in MN is planning to go outside if they don’t have to. It was -40°F windchill this morning. -50°F windchill in Northern MN.

    7. I don’t think anyone expects a boomer to understand. You guys are the ones that put us in this mess.

    8. The one true power people have is to not participate in capitalist economy to make a point. Target is suffering b/c of this and Jimmy Kimmel is on the air due to similar economic pressure.

    9. Valuing a day of productivity over someone’s freedom of speech and right to protest is your disconnect here, imo.

These people are seeing their city and community torn apart by federal agents. I don’t think they care about fucking up their economy for a day if it means they can make a statement. The point is the publicity and the awareness, which is clearly working because you’re aware of it.

    10. Upvoted for this hilarious take and the accuracy of saying “I don’t understand this…”

      Yeah, we can see that.
