Trump invaded Venezuela and kidnapped the president and his wife thinking the US oil companies would happily take over. That was his plan, which was not really having a plan, just a stupid idea.

    2. You mean the oil companies don’t want to invest into a country that just got destabilized by the US military invading it and leaving a power vacuum?

Who would’ve guessed they wouldn’t want to commit?

    3. Isn’t Trumps dictating the means of production against everything Republicans are supposed to be for?

    4. But Trump just announced that they agreed to spend 100s of billions on Venezuela infrastructure. He wouldn’t lie about that, would he? /s

    5. Lol oh please, they’re slow playing this. They want Trump to up the incentives so they can milk it for all its worth. They are going to make out huge with this and everyone fucking knows it.

    6. Of course. All of this goes away when Rump does. Everything this guy has done is getting rolled back as soon as the midterms.

Trump is struggling to convince successful businessmen, something he isn’t, into believing his rendition of making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear story, about the oil industry in Venezuela. His salesmanship skills are waning in veracity.

In true narcissist fashion he said “well if you dont want to do it, I have 25 others that want to be here.”

The best response to that is to say, yeah who are these 25 people? Name them. They will stumble and not have a single name, ask me how I know.

    9. Don’t believe for one minute that the oil companies are going to use their own money to set up infrastructure in Venezuela. It’s going to be taxpayer money through tax exemptions and subsidies.

    10. Entering into a long-term investment of multiple billions of dollars, in a foreign country with a recently toppled leadership, based on actions and statements from an unstable, unhealthy, mentally questionable 79 year old unpopular politician does not seem like a wise business decision.

      Go figure.

Who wants to bet they are waiting on taxpayer money to fund operations while they receive all the profits. Surely they would be more “committed” at that point 🫠

    12. And he’s surprised because their lobbyists bribed the hell out of his people first, and he called them before the invasion to inform them so they could kiss his ass. (And didn’t inform Congress as The Law requires).

    13. When did this Clown Car Collective ever think anything through?

Is Trump defensive and deflecting…or just demented and easily led? 25 for 47…

    14. It was much easier for Trump to shut down green energy (solar tax credits, wind energy, EV tax credits) to benefit the oil companies. This is almost comical.

    15. Trump Administration is so inept that they even flunked the classic American cronyism playbook.

Guys, you’re supposed to line up the commitments in all those smoke-filled backrooms y’all hang out in. THEN go and violate another nations sovereignty.

    16. one of his asskissers will simply start an oil company. Musk is probably looking into that right now.

Aside from the obvious risk of investing in a country that is likely to nationalize the assets as soon as they can, there’s the risk of getting boycotted by consumers who disagree with invading a country to seize their oil.

    18. Dont show this to Venezuelans they will freak out specially the ones leaving outside of venezuela, they think Trump is their savior. I heard one say “Donald Trump has done more for Venezuela in one month than the UN in 26 years”

    19. OpticalPrime35 on

I vote for MAGA to go work those oil fields and plants in Venezuela since they seem it is such an amazing thing

    20. Their legal teams are going “the world isn’t going to like this and anything we invest is probably lost when he dies and JD ‘Peter Thiel uses my asshole to activate my puppet strings’ Vance won’t necessarily care about Venezuela”.

    21. givin_u_the_high_hat on

Because they need a boots-on-the-ground full scale invasion to secure their investments (and people).

    22. Real_Topic_7655 on

These oil executives, they are well beyond Trump’s three years. They will play the long game and stay friends with Trump., but they have already matured their language and actions to incorporate, climate change and local governments,
They don’t want to be seen as bandits on Trump’s team .

    23. AdSpecialist4529 on

Only takes 100 Venezuelan rebels loyal to Maduro to make it virtually impossible to come in and get the oil. Random attacks on staff, blowing up trucks and oil plants.

    24. I bet it’s that Trump wants a large percentage or finders fee and he is just so greedy that it’s not worthwhile to deal with him especially knowing he may renegotiate the secons they build out hundreds of millions in infrastructure.

    25. Venezuelan oil is extremely heavy. Extracting it is expensive, transporting it is expensive, and refining it is even more so. For investment in infrastructure, etc, to be profitable within a reasonable timeframe (a couple of decades), the price of oil would need to be well above $70 a barrel consistently for over 20 years.

It is estimated that the investment required for Trump’s plans regarding Venezuelan oil would be minimally competitive at $200 billion. Putting that kind of money into an unstable region with no guaranteed return for more than two decades is not something that attracts investors or capital.

I suppose the pedophile believes that all extracted oil has the same quality because oil is oil, right?

    26. If they wanted to, they would already be involved in Venezuela… What was stopping them before? Even criminals like money…

    27. Demand for oil is down. Why would they want to invest money into increasing supply when it will drive the price of their product down?

    28. not surprised – they were probably like – Benn there/Done That – and then they kicked us out after we built up their infrastructure, when they nationalized the oil industry in Venezuela.

its not like the removal of Maduro somehow changed the law of the land that is in effect – the oil industry is still nationalized.

    29. Why should they invest in anything under trump? When they just going to lose it all in 3 years, under the next president, cause it’s all illegal.

    30. They don’t think his regime is going to last and don’t want to get the short end of the stick when it comes tumbling down.

    31. C0tt0nC4ndyM0uth on

Does anyone have legitimate proof that there is even that much oil there? From what I understand, this is something that Maduro started claiming but without evidence? Like it could actually just be complete BS the whole time?

    32. My theory is that Trump has always wanted to be an oil tycoon, and I use that phrase because it’s childish. Because Trump thought he finally could join the party if he gave them something they wanted. So therein lies why he could never be in oil… he thinks like a grifter. Even if oil is full of billionaires who are assholes… they’re still better at business than Trump.

    33. “Trump is a fucking moron” fmr exxon mobil ceo/sec of state Rex Tillerson *probably still on their rolodex
