$47 in todays money. No thanks. But to be fair a lot of homes back then weren’t well insulated and were costly to heat. Plus that whole fuel crisis of the 1970s, which might justify the cost for some homeowners.

I have a suspicion this was just a big rectangle of mylar. My dad gave me something similar to keep in the car in case I got stranded in a snow bank
