    1. Wow rounding up a penny to 5 cents, thats wild

Edit: realize change is rounded up, not cost. Thats even more wild lol

    2. Wow. In Canada 1&2c rounded down. 3&4c rounded up. 6&7c rounded down. 8&9c rounded up.

Why is everything there rounded up?

Edit: I guess in this instance the customer always gets the benefit of rounding up? Here most people use debit or credit anyway so no rounding is involved.

    4. I work at a grocery store and we had to start rounding about a month ago. We’re saving all our pennies for the self-checkouts and we’re waiving Coinstar fees for customers who want to trade in their pennies

      b) Why not just change the prices to all be a multiple of 5.

I was told by my boss there are specific things you’re not allowed to overcharge for, so rounding change up is the safest bet.

    7. Using the term “rounded up” when they actually mean “cost rounded down” is definitely too confusing for the average american

    8. This is more of a testament to how far math literacy has fallen in the States more than much else.
