The only silver lining I can think of that could come out of this is them bringing Clipit back and making him the face of the AI.

Facepalm indeed.
Luckily I’ve been using Google Drive for over a decade now, and OpenOffice for even more time.

From the text in the image it sounds like they already rebranded Office to Microsoft 365 at some point (after googling, looks like it happened almost 5 years ago). So they already threw the brand recognition out the window. Now it sounds like they’re just adding “Copilot” to a brand name that people already don’t give a shit about.
Doesn’t seem like that big of an issue to me, other than the general distaste people have for AI.

The old Office Suite is becoming more and more human repellent.

LibreOffice is a fine alternative for anyone interested.

For clarity. This isn’t the Microsoft Office suite. This is just the single app that lets you view and edit all Office document types on mobile. Not that clarity is high on MS agenda these days.

Can they just stop making things worse for one fucking day

How to destroy your own brand.

This is one of the reasons why I’ve cancelled my subscription of… damn, over a decade I now realise, to the family plan.
I say this as somebody who has (sadly 🫠) worked in IT for 20 years – at this point, fuck Microsoft. Really, though.
Fuck them to the moon and back.
Then fuck them some more.

I cannot even tell which application I’m using anymore with Microsoft’s bizarre branding. And good luck trying to explain to older folks how to use it.

It’s not been called Office for over 5 years atp. “Office 2021” was the final office branded product.
All they’ve done is add “copilot” to the name, which makes it stupidly annoying because it causes me to always open the wrong app when I mean to open the ACTUAL copilot.

The Office app has not had any brand recognition because MS MO has always been to rebrand it.
So this isn’t erasing anything, just a regular day for MS.

Fucking weird. Given they’ve acknowledged no one is using copilot
