My guess is they are talking about Osama Bin Laden. But there’s a stark difference between icing a terrorist, and kidnapping the leader of a country. Yes, Maduro is corrupt as hell and running his country into the ground and won the election under the shadiest of circumstances. but well, that describes Trump too.
Few are saying Maduro is anything but a terrible leader, but you can’t just start picking off leaders of countries you don’t like with no oversight.

And yah, it was wrong. It was illegal. It was hypocritical given Obama had previously said it was something a President shouldn’t do a la the Iraq War. He got a lot of shit for that from both Democrats and Republicans.
More than all of that, it was a huge fucking mistake because there was no followup plan. It left Libya in a power vacuum that was filled by ISIL and other terrorists. And it’s obvious that Trump and his administration *are not paying attention to that* because they’re going to do the same thing here. Obama even called it *his* worst mistake years later.
But it also wasn’t nearly the same. For one thing, the incursion into Libya was backed by our allies and part of NATO operations whereas our allies have criticized the legality of Trump’s operation. For another, while he didn’t get Congress’ authorization, he did consult with members about the operation which is more than Trump did. Not to mention, Libya was in the middle of a civil war and possibly looking at a genocide or in the midst of one, which is certainly a lot more sympathetic of a reason to do something like that than oil nobody’s going to touch.
