      Way down in Dixieland”

    2. Even though bayonets were standard issue and every soldier was taught how to use them, they only accounted for around 1% of casualties – not cause there weren’t bayonet charges, but cause one side or the other would almost always run away before contact. Movies undersell how deathly afraid everyone was of fighting like this.
