This is going to be a completely civil and productive thread, I can already tell

    2. The One China Policy is actually supported by most of the western world, the verbatim is very blurry and messy, they are for self dependence and sovereignty all the whilst agreeing or at least not disputing the fact the Taiwan is part of China

    3. Oh, like the United States, Israel and I don’t know, TAIWAN (Republic of China), recognise Taiwan as separate from China.

    4. paeganmushroom on

It doesn’t change fhe fact that Israel committed genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine.

      Fuck Israel.

    5. And water is wet. Palestine opposes Taiwan because the PRC supports Palestine it’s not rocket science. Palestine also supports China’s efforts in Xinjiang. In exchange China vetos any Security Council decisions that goes against Palestine and calls for the reinstatement of the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem being the capital of Palestine(instead of Ramallah, the same way how the US vetoes anything that would go against Israel and recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel)

    6. On one hand I can see them turning to another superpower, after seeing the US doing nothing for a two-state solution. On the other hand, it doesn’t exactly help their cause in the eyes of anyone outside of China.

Totally justifies Israel slaughtering every single Palestinian to make way for beach resorts…/s

They’re looking for protection by appeasing a state that could be an ally, it’s not unreasonable

The oppressed support the oppression of others.

There’s no gray area or nuance here.

    11. I’m pretty sure if China had an island that sat just off the coast of America, yet was sovereign, Americans wouldn’t just let the Chinese occupy territory that close to them either. Same with Ukraine.

    12. Geopolitics.  China has supported Palestine since the 1950s.  They aren’t going to take a stand for an issue that is fundamental to China.

    13. They don’t want Chinese support to be lost, makes sense since the US is the main instigator and problem threatening their existence. I do believe Taiwan has the right to exist and a small country’s opinion over hundreds others who oppose the one China ideology really don’t matter

    14. WhiteSepulchre on

Why the fuck would they care about Taiwan? They’re kind of being massacred by a US-backed racist state.

    15. I find calm and acceptance (not joy) when the “grey” is displayed for all to see. Every “free____!” Post or sign is the product of the world sized capitalism machine in action. Freedom is only endorsed or allowed by power in place when it works for them. The narrative must changed and shift even quicker in the digital landscape of instant gratification. We all believe we are supporting the “just cause”… while simultaneously ACTUALLY perpetuating suffering and inequality.

    16. Taiwan and Israel are both made up states that serve as US colonies to disrupt their regions and they both should cease to exist

I mean so does most if not the rest of the world just to get products from china, why would we expect better from them?

Palestine (feels weird officially saying it) is friendly with China, period. China supports them so of course they will say this.

Ironically, Palestine and Taiwan are very similar in terms of geo-politics. Palestine finally gets recognized as a state and then tells other countries in similar states to kick rocks.

Talk about kicking that ladder out from below you.

Though, they have no choice buy to be friendly with China. The US and Israel sort of caused this.

    19. Show me where in the republic of China constitution there is a reference to an independent Taiwan?

    20. If they say anything to the contrary china will immediately abandon them and they need the support regardless of how little the world powers are actually willing to do for them. They know it we know and most importantly of all china knows it.

    21. orpheusoedipus on

So what? You think the west opposes China’s claim implicitly because they have some sort of moral superiority (they’re formally for one China because they want their goods, more hypocrisy.)? They do it because they’re afraid of losing access to chips and an ally next to their potential enemy, otherwise no one would care about Taiwan. The same people who cry about Taiwan don’t say shit about Hawaii or Puerto Rico or the natives Americans, or the countless military bases America has all over the world. They never talk about Okinawa or Jeju islands because it’s not some moral position that people are taking out of principle but mirroring the interests of their corporations who want continued access to these places. You all have to stop pretending this is about principles and stop being hypocrites, not that China is some good force they’re just as self interested as any state, but they’re objectively better than the US not that that’s saying much.

This is very strange considering the over 2 million Uyger Muslims being held in Chinese concentration camps in Northern China. 🤔

    23. juliankennedy23 on

I mean Palestine also supports the genocide in Sudan so I guess we can just ignore that?

    24. Free Palestine.

      Free Taiwan.

      Give the Tibetans their rights.

Stop the repression of the Uyghurs.

      F China.

China should leave the Philippines’ EEZ/waters. China is the big fat bully of South East Asia.

    25. Western lefties not sure what to do now.

      1) Support or not support the Iranian Regime?

      2) Support or not support Taiwan?

What’s Next? Brains about to explode.

    26. Who is “the state of Palestine”? Genuinely curious since as far I know Gaza and the West Bank have different governments and neither are autonomous or recognized as a state.

    27. Ehm. China and USA is not friends. Palestine and Israel is not friends.

My enemies enemy, is my friend…
