Less frames = more cost efficient x under paid animators
I sit on a 240hz monitor for at least 4 hours everyday and I just looks extra choppy for me

i have only seen it in like 5 movies so far

There’s only like the two spiderverse movies, that one tmnt movie, the second puss in boots movie and that one black netflix movie

I’m more tired of the Pixar style personally.

So far a lot of those movies with that animation seem to have a lot of other factors that help it become a good movie as well. Theres only like a handful? Unless I’m missing something.
Take the Last Wish. Phenomenal animation, still, but it’s a fantastic story with great character clashing and stupid good writing.

Am I missing something? I have only seen the spider verse movies with that animation style lol

“every animated film” are you talking about Sony animations, the singular company making famous American animation these days?

Im tired of the “color theory contrast” frames everything animated is doing. Holding a scene all split into their few main colors for no reason

The rule of media is: if it is successful, it will be milked and copied until everyone hates it. Then, blame the fans for its failure.

Speak for yourself. If an animation style is to be overused, it might as well be that. Sick of all the Illumination style garbage.

Well you see, the animation world only has so many key animators. That’s why so many adult animations look like Family Guy or Rick and Morty even if they aren’t associated with the creators of either show.

Bro be grateful that we have this because I’m pretty every studio secretly wants to replace everything with ai slop. I’m not anti ai in general but even I know the importance of supporting human creativity and not let ai be involved in that at all.

…do they?
Spider-verse is built largely on mixing animation styles and having a lot going on. I can see similarities between some of the styles and styles from a few other movies but no like… Overarching trends

I disagree. The framerate is reduced to anime standards, which does suck, but the amount of detail in models and animation is so much higher quality now. I’ll take a million Spiderverses and KPDHs versus the stale and barely alive Disney/Pixar films of the past decade.

I still prefer it. What can I say, I love colors

How many have done it besides Spiderverse and Puss and Boots 2? Those are the only films I’ve seen with it.

Are we talking art style or animation style??
A lot of people in the comments are mixing up the animation style with art style. The animation is using lower framerates to simulate a moving comic book. The art style is 2D hand-drawn with less-used shading styles such as crosshatching to also give it the comic book feel.
Which one are you referring to?

Technically Spider-Verse has multiple art styles to match multiple different universes.

Spiderverse did the low frame rate animation specifically to make it feel like a comic book. And now everyone does it because ?????
