    1. For those who might argue that people should not take money they don’t have, yes this is true.

However, banks know how to stop people from over drafting. They let you do it so they can charge you the ridiculous fees.

I remember reading that one of the bank executives literally has a yacht named ‘Overdraft’.

Also remember one of Trump’s first actions of his new term was undo an EO from Biden that gave people protection from predatory overdraft fees.

    3. Stuff like this is why I’ve never used a bank for checking and savings accounts. I’ve been using a credit union since I was a teenager in the late 90s.

Says it better than I could.

“Yes, Democrats, primarily through the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) under the Biden administration, finalized a rule to cap most overdraft fees at **$5** for large banks. However, this rule was recently overturned by a Republican-led effort in Congress and signed into law by President Trump in May 2025”

That’s why I called my bank and told them to never let my account go negative and still get charged. They can just stop that. If there isn’t enough money in my account, I would just get declined. Better to get declined getting McDonald’s than get charged an extra $20 for it.
