As an icu nurse these things are clutch. Way easier to get a patient safely onto than a bathroom. Patients hate a bedpan but often aren’t healthy/stable enough to make it to the bathroom. This is a safer alternative that still preserves their dignity.

This is the toilet I took the biggest dump of my life in. Pretty sure they had to dig it out and put it in a biohazard bag because that effer was NOT going to go down that thing. 🤣🤣

When my dad did his sleep study the room had something like this. It was super easy for him to use and the camera couldn’t see him use it.

I had to be in the ICU for a few days a couple of years ago, but I was ambulatory so I got to use this. They put a curtain around the sink for me for privacy but I still felt like I was pooping in the furniture. Such a weird week.

I used one of these at Advocate Illinois Masonic’s ICU in September, although they told me they were moving across the street to a brand-new building the next month, so I don’t know if they still use something like this. It was a little awkward, to say the least.

We call them combi toilets.
Infection prevention loathes these and they are a nightmare for facilities. We just design full toilet rooms and build a universal patient room. If the entire floor needs to flip from med/surg or icu it simply can be.
