Originally, when the Michelin Guide came out, it was handed to French taxi drivers and motorists so they knew where hotels and restaurants were in their regions, during WW2, The Michelin Guide got suspended until 1944 where Allied powers would ask them to start reprinting the 1939 issue of the guide for military use because they had better maps than what Allied command was using
