LGBT used to be called GLBT, with Gay in front of Lesbian, however during the 1980s-90s AIDS crisis, lesbians step up as devoted caregivers and fierce activists for gay men, earning their rightful spot at the forefront of the LGBT movement through unbreakable community love.

    1. Was call LGB my whole damn life. Never heard GLB.

We’ve added other letters, but L before G has been the way.

I’m gay, so feel I can get away with saying this, but I still read it as being Bacon Lettuce Tomato related

    3. No, it’s because LGBT flows more naturally/is more phonetically pleasing than GLBT. Quit spreading horsecrap.

    4. “Rightful spot at the forefront” wtf propaganda is this. Theres is a superior sexual orientation? This also suggests Trans are the most inferior 🤣

I still don’t understand the difference between some of the terms. Lesbians are gay women – that’s easy. But is “gay” just gay men or is itmore inclusive than that? Queer use to be a perjorative that was successfully “taken back” by the community (good job, BTW). Is queer now the all-inclusive non-gendered term?

people need to do their research. there are culturally significant reasons like OP mentioned as to why the L goes first.

    7. I think the lgbt community would agree that no one is prioritized within the community, wtf kind of point is this

I’ve always thought this is one of the wildest made stories people believe because who would’ve decided that they switched? How would’ve that just happened?

I thought it was to signify a break from the patriarchy so the female contingent was out first

LGBT rolls of the tongue easier and women wanted representation so it worked in tandem

    11. So there’s no primary source on Wiki, and the only other source is some random website with no primary sources posing as a news site?

Do people not have news literacy anymore?
