I was at the zoo with my grandma, I was like 12. We were looking at the camels and I said “grandma you grew up in Saudi Arabia, did you ever ride a camel?” To which she answered “well, when my Girl Scout group went to Egypt we rode camels before going into one of the great pyramids” I was like “YOU HAVE NEVER TOLD ME YOU WENT IN A GREAT PYRAMID!? Why have you said nothing about this before?!?!!”
(Her dad worked for Aramco oil so she grew up in the town Aramco built for the American families working there. Her dad was a gemologist for the company. She lived there until she finished 8th grade and then went to high school in Europe since girls couldn’t be educated past 8th grade in Saudi Arabia at the time)
