If they have to stay at work, then it seems a little beyond “on call” if you aks me. Hope they get paid for their time there even without being called.

I have seen prison cells around the world (thank you Reddit) and this doesn’t even come close to being as them. This closet sleeping space is super depressing.

Be up and about for more than 24 hours, and this will look a lot more appealing.

Theatre Nurse on call rooms at our hospital are similar, and very hit and miss if the cleaners clean them and change the sheets, so 3 am or whatever you’re walking around trying to get a linen press open and changing bedding yourself.

I work on an OB floor and the Doctor’s call room has windows, a separate bathroom, and is decently spacious.

I with the US would overhaul how healthcare workers are treated. It’s dangerous to force doctors and nurses to work such long shifts/so sleep deprived.
