It’s still the saddest thing to occur in this decade

Just what we as black people have been screaming for at least 50 years. But at least you don’t gaslight us into thinking we’re overreacting anymore. So I guess that’s progress

I truly believe that the biggest privilege white people have is that they are always seen as individuals. No matter how many of them commit evil acts, they are never looked at as a community. You can be the most upstanding citizen, but if you’re black, you’re still seen as a threat for no reason other than your skin.

A random thought I had recently: I remember way back in the early 90s, I was BIG into Fresh Prince. It was up there with Power Rangers for me. I was probably about five and my parents did not approve of me watching “black people shit” but I did not care.
Then one week there was an episode that was very upsetting for me and the short of it was that Will and Carlton were arrested for DWB, Driving While Black. As a small child in a fairly racist white family (I did not realize the latter yet), I was MORTIFIED and I think that was a defining moment for me to realize racism is still real. Yes, I understand it was fiction, but it gave me a window into the life of another group.
My point: I think in the 90s, there was a push for black culture in mainstream culture and on prime time TV. For most of white America, that was likely their ONLY exposure. In the internet age, we have lost that avenue of discourse and therefore that exposure to black culture.

The GCA of 1968 was “inspired” by the Black Panthers patrolling black neighborhoods with guns. The government has literally said it’s illegal to be walking around “brandishing” a firearm, but they look the other what if you’re white.

I hate Rittenhouse for being a Republican POS. But what he did was a clear case of self-defense. He had the right to own a gun. He had the right to carry a gun. The men he killed had no right to try shooting and beating him unprovoked. He tried to retreat during the engagement.
There’s plenty of better examples to use than that one.

Just missing the cops buying some fast food for the one after having to arrest him for whatever hate crime he is about to commit.

If only people could vote out the people who deny, defend and uphold this continued system that protects racist cops and judges.
