Okay but at the same time the number of people with weak ass handshakes is too damn high. They either give a feather touch or their fingers just collapse during the shake.

      There’s a happy middle ground.

    2. A real man knows that a proper hand shake isn’t crushing the hand, you need to be soft but firm. Dependable but not overeager

My mentor made me spend an hour practicing handshakes

I’m nearly 40 and I was raised with the belief that you should have a firm, vice-like hand shake to show that you are strong and reliable. It’s something that’s practically coded into older people’s brains, it’s not about anything other than that.

    4. While I was in college I was dating this russian girl and I remember her older brother instant-liking me because I have firm handshake… So I see nothing wrong in older guys teaching you how to have firm handshake, you are looking way too much into this xD

    5. This unlocked a core memory in me. Although I don’t remember the old dude who was responsible for breaking my hand

My interpretation of firm grip was always squeeze a bit but tense up your hand so it doesn’t flex, ie is firm

    7. It’s odd in general for men to squeeze the fuck out of the hand of the person they’re greeting through a handshake. It’s like it’s an intimidation tactic. Older men do this so often and I don’t think they realize how easy it is for them to get their asses beat.

So when I was 16 my dad got me a job with his boss, upon meeting that bastard he tried to squeeze my hand for whatever dipshit reason. I slipped his grip grabbed his index and middle finger and yanked down dislocating both of them. I guarantee that piece of shit never tried it again.
