I accidentally left a pack of seltzer in the car in freezing temperatures. Of the 3 cans that exploded, each did so with a unique failure scenario.

    1. Can 1: Side seam failure following base buckling / inversion.

Can 2: Partial lid flange failure following base inversion.

Can 3: Total lid flange failure with can “neck” expansion without base deformation <- edited to fix word

    2. Honestly a sign of a good design when there isn’t any one weak point. Everything in perfect balance

You get Peach Sanpellegrino? So lucky, we don’t get much flavors in Northern Virginia, USA.

    4. Would be interesting if they all failed in the same way. Obviously the one on the left was the coldest and froze the fasted so it exploded, that bump cause instant freeze in the next one, the ice pushed against all walls, the weakest one being the lid. The last one wasn’t hit by the first one blowing up so it slowly froze so it didn’t push the bottom out but the weakest wall was still the lid.

Display these as an art piece, it can be your own version of See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil
