    1. I’m trying to think of some redeeming qualities of USSR that don’t instantly get overshadowed by what the neighbouring countries did at the same time.

      Siberia bad.

A bit unrelated: “The Western pigs are constantly trying to get Russia to be on it’s knees! Again and again and again! But no matter how much they try, it still keeps lying face down in the mud.”

    2. Stalin alone killed more people than Hitler.
That’s mainly because the USSR had more people under it and existed for longer, but it still was a systematic genocide.

    3. Me switching from anti-USSR attitude when arguing against a red fascist to pro-USSR attitude when arguing against a pro-Tsarist

The USSR was good for moscow and saint Petersburg and it was a parasite to the rest of the USSR and the Warsaw pact if not the world.

The USSR is the easiest nation to lie about. Tankie will believe every good lie about the USSR and Anti-Communists will believe every bad lie about the USSR.

Everyone here is just proving OP’s point. It is a nuanced topic with multiple angles and positions to view it from.

    8. There’s two sides but they arent balanced.

The country gdp per capita grew above inflation by 6% for about a whole generation, with education and tecnology becoming acessible.

But, the human cost, with millions deads with Stalin, the repression, the economic stagnation. Also, the invasion of Afghanistan for instance.

It can’t be praised, but you can see why third world leftists had it as a model.

The T-34 when properly manufactured was a decent tank for its time, but most factories had to do do many cost and labour cutting that the quality varied widely. Especially those made in stalingrad during the siege were little more than metal coffins with a big gun.

Still Russia would’ve never beaten back the nazies if it weren’t for American lend lease and high quality fuel. The M4 Sherman did a lot of the heavy lifting on the Eastern front, even though supply routes were slow with the western ports being blockaded or occupied and the siberian ports being near Japan and then needing to be sent by train to the west.
