    Excerpts From a Physics Student’s Extensive 1950 Diary (Part 24)

    Hey all!

    Welcome back to another entry in this project of mine!

    This entry, we see William settle back into his old routine of college (being extra studious!), have some fun experiences with friends, comment on the happenings of the world, and much more.

    I particularly enjoyed one part of the MEMO section at the end of today's entry (I've bolded it for your viewing pleasure).

    Again, a picture of William is included at the end of the slideshow, a transcript is in the comments, and, for any new readers, anything in italics is me adding onto or commenting on William's writing

      **Monday, April 3rd (Clear)**

      Up at 7:30. Good pancakes this morning. First period I got laundry ready to go (never took it down today) *[lol!]*. Went over to see [Dr. McGavock](https://imgur.com/a/Z3gUVLS) who wasn’t in. So, I went downtown and got a haircut, which I needed badly. Picked up a letter for Bob at P.O. from Florida. Turned out to be an offer, definite enough, but not formally approved until meeting in May. [Dr. Pete](https://imgur.com/a/IjwAQu0) advised him to go ahead and accept.

      After haircut, saw Dr. M. [CAB ](https://imgur.com/a/2g0CW9u)*[Charlie for new readers]* was just winding up. I got not much help cause the Dr’s note were messed up. Got nowhere 2nd period. Chapel was well presented by [Henry Bridges](https://imgur.com/a/4i5nKBv) of the Sr. Class. 3rd period I saw Dr. M again and got straightened out except for sign. Wrote 1st optics problem.

      Optics not much new. Went right up to A.C. *[Advanced Calculus]*. Dr. M had found mistake. I sat down and wrote furiously getting everything together. Was a bit nervous before I got up, having to wait until several others presented theirs. However, as soon as I got up, it disappeared, which is encouraging. Gave problem in 11.5 minutes. *[Wow!]*. Dr. M says he thought it hardest problem in book and said he was going to copy it down for next year.

      To tennis match with Harvard. Saw all matches. We won 9-0. Wrote and read German. Went to show tonight: [Conspirator ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspirator_(1949_film))with Robert and Elizabeth Taylor. With experience, Liz ought to come around *[lol!]*. Wrote up prose on electronics experiments; will graph later.

      Visited East, returning [Pat’s](https://imgur.com/WEChSHY) book and carrying poem. They, I think, agreed with me; once was enough. Talked. No hot water again tonight *[Darn!]*. My B.O. has increased in vileness these past few days. I’m going to cut down on sweets *[lol!]*. To bed at midnight.
