In 2021, a 50-year-old Turkish man named Beyhan Mutlu became the center of a bizarre search operation in Bursa province. After a night of drinking with friends, Mutlu wandered into a forest and failed to return, prompting his family to report him missing. Local authorities and a volunteer search party were dispatched to comb the woods, and Mutlu, unaware he was the target of the search, joined the group to assist in the rescue efforts.
The confusion ended when rescuers began shouting the missing man’s name. Mutlu famously replied, “I am here,” shocking the volunteers who had been walking alongside him for hours. After realizing the mistake, police took his statement and gave him a ride home. The story went viral globally as a humorous example of extreme confusion, though Mutlu later noted he joined simply because he thought the group was looking for someone else

Could happen to any of us. He’s now leading search groups for others who are missing. /s

    3. Did that really happen? Because I’ve heard so many different variations of this story from a woman from one country and a man from another country…etc
It’s always a different person, but they were all drunk and same story

    4. At least he was a helpful drunk. Out doing some volunteer work to find a missing person while shit faced is pretty cool.
