A 13-year-old girl went to a prosecutor in southern Iran today, showing a photo and claiming her father had discovered a treasure. Police immediately raided their house and found 500 artifacts dating to the Sassanid Empire (224–651 AD). Thanks to his own daughter, the man is now in prison. [754×698]

that seems a bit fucked up even for my indiana jones soul, sure it belongs in a museum but did they guy really have to go to jail? he found it all!

    2. > The story began when the Shiraz police or cultural heritage, based on information about the discovery and concealment of a historical treasure, went to a house in the city. The main suspect was the father of the family, who was said to have found and hidden a treasure from the Sassanid period.

      > The case seemed to have reached a dead end. At this critical moment, an unexpected witness came into the story: the thirteen-year-old daughter of the family. Witnessing the whole story, he came to the officers and revealed the secret of hiding the treasure: “You don’t know where it is. It’s under the kitchen ceramics.”

      > According to Iranian law, all historical monuments found on the soil of the country are public property and in the ownership of the state (on behalf of the nation). Any discovery, excavation, purchase, sale or concealment of these works without the permission of the Cultural Heritage Organization is considered a crime. The father of the family will face several charges. But if the person cooperates and does not have a criminal record, the judge may consider a discount.

    3. Is this girl’s father going to hate her now though? I mean obviously he didn’t see anything wrong with holding treasure.

    4. Well done kid. She probably first tried to tell him to give the treasure to authorities, but he didn’t. Your father will be fine, and hopefully understand your act of justice. Your acts makes lots of corrupt people angry, but you did what you believed was right. Absolute brevity.

At least the man has a chance of redemption because of his own daughter :))
