🤮 I hope MANY lives are ruined when everything is finally out. But knowing the rich and powerful the vast majority will be unscathed and continue to live out their days rich and powerful.

Nabokov isn’t controversial, but abuse of the underage girls is terrible.

Imagine some poor young woman reading a book about another little girl’s repeated sexual abuse and exploitation from the perspective of the abuser. Then imagine that she, with tears in her eyes, identifies with this girl, and silently pulls out a pen to write the quote on her foot. Have you ever felt that with someone in fiction? As if somebody, even if they were made up, could possibly understand you in a world that doesn’t care to try? It’s absolutely heartbreaking.

Nabokov was a brilliant author who knew how to use prose. He hated the concept of pedophilia and wrote the protagonist as a man you only viewed with revulsion and distaste. The story was only sexualized once the studios bought the rights.
Lolita was 12 years old in the novel, hammering the point home and making you feel uncomfortable. The irony is that Epstein wasn’t Hubert. He was Quilty, the millionaire pedophile Hubert killed in the end.
