    1. I can’t stand the guy, he doesn’t believe in human driven climate change. Super embarrassing. You can see his video on it on YouTube but I wouldn’t recommend e watching it

    2. Wow, I forgot about Lindybeige.

Dude’s kinda crazy, even if his video on katanas was pretty great.

    3. Many of the wars of the Napoleonic era were initiated by Napoleon’s enemies, so he cannot be held solely responsible, though his policies often provoked those conflicts

The coalition monarchs also share significant responsibility for the resulting deaths

      Also who is this guy?

    4. Lindy is a professional irrational “anything that isn’t British” hater, which leads to some baffling arguments and conclusions sometimes.

    5. He is the original “just use logic” guy on youtube regarding any historical subject.

Used to be entertaining content, if shallow (to say the least).

    6. Lindy is awesome, very entertaining, even if sometimes eccentric. Very british.

I remember reading a book by a british author on an unrelated topic and being surprised that an example of ultimate evil was Napoleon. Titled something like “oppressor of the nations”. Definitely not an isolated case

    7. Is it irrational? Napoleon was always trying to undermine British power, even before he ascended to leader of France, like the invasion of Egypt, which was a direct attempt to undermine British trade interests in India.

    8. Napoleon might be the most unjustly condemned conqueror; even the French don’t defend him properly.

    9. It’s also false.

The Napoleonic wars killed 5 million at a time were world population was 1 billion.

The European theatre of WW2 killed well over 30 million, for a world population of 2.3 billion in 1939.

That’s .5% for Napoleon and 1.3 for Hitler.

That’s not even accounting for the fact military deaths in battle and genocide are not comparable

I kinda missed the part where Napoleon called for ethnic cleansing and genocide of whole ethnicities because of his ideology. If all that this guy sees when talking about Nazis are military casualties, I have bad news for him.

    11. Oh Lindybeige. Still desperately trying to convince people the Normans are 100% Norse and not French at all I imagine?

Oh god, what is up woth Lindybeige now?

I used to watch him years ago and back then he was basically just your nerdy history professor type to listen to with a cup of tea in hand, don’t tell me he turned shitheel

Only if you count wartime casualties. Nobody adds the 15-20 million that died in ww2 to Hitler death count.

Love Lindybeige for his character and deliverance but don’t necessarily always agree with what he is saying.

    15. I saw some videos of him until the dreaded video where he said that the Bren gun was the best lmg that came out of WW2

He’s incredibly biased to the point of sounding very very stupid

    16. The guy may be irrational, but hate for the person that brought back monarchy and institution of slavery isn’t

I questioned his credibility after watching his top 5(10?) tanks of all time. I stopped watching after seeing 2 non-tank tank( tank destroyer not tank) in his top 5 tank of all time like there are not enough great tank already.

    18. Ah yes, the Napoleonic Wars. Famous for ethnic cleansings, mass civilian casualties, and genocides on all sides. Definitely eviler, mhm. Gotta love him pulling the word ‘proportion’ out of his ass to make a shit argument 😂

I’m so relieved I got out of the ‘amateur historian’ YouTube sphere years ago. Used to be a big fan of people like Lindy, Shad, and Metatron. But then I went outside and touched some grass lol

    19. While this argument itself is obviously bullshit, hatred of Napoleon is anything jut irrational. He was a horrible, violent dictator and a megalomaniac..we should all be happy that he lost

To be honest, I think it’s just an English thing. You’ll very rarely hear Napoleon brought up in the other nations of the UK.

It’s just a continuation of the old Anglo-French rivalry

    21. Ah yes, because carefully selected minorities exterminated in camps is the same thing as invading soldiers dying in battle.
