I saw just one at a thrift shop the other day.
Seeing that made me think how long until I see Stanley mugs, labubus, bearista cups and highland cow merchandise.

I’m genuinely so glad that the only time I fell into funko pops was briefly during Mando. I bought a handful of really cute ones, dumped them back out on ebay around the time s3 came out, and washed my hands of it. That I can remember, I only have 2 now, the big armored Baymax I got for my bday years back, and a matching teeny tiny Baymax.
Unfortunately they’re one of those items, like the Desert Storm trading cards, that everyone thought would become collectible, and never has. There’s that one in a million item that’s worth good month, but the rest are like buying a car, the moment they’re off the sales shelf, they lose their value, even if they’re MISB.

I like funkopops. I think they’re cute and reasonably high quality for like, $10.
That said, I only have like half a dozen of them, and they’re out of box and sitting on a shelf. Just characters I like. I do not understand the people who collected hundreds of these things as like, an investment.

Man I really hate those figurines a lot. Gotta be one of the worst styles that sell a shit ton but have zero other redeeming factors to it other than covering many different franchises.

I never understood the obsession of the chase. I swear gamestop is only open because of these.
Any special ones are going to get grabbed by the staff. The only way this is fair is if they had like an outer wrap to obscure what’s inside. These really are the new beanie baby.

Can somebody explain the recent hate toward Funkos? It’s not even “meh don’t care”, it just sounds like mocking or distaste these days.

I worked for Funko for a bit before they moved their shipping to Arizona. They gave away so many pops to people at random times. When I was let go when they decided to announce the move and hire temps at lower rates I have away or sold all the pops they had given me. Unfortunately others had the same idea so any market in the area we’re offering low amounts. These are on the way of beanie babies, some will retain a value but most will be barely worth what it took to make them.

I’ve only bought a couple of these but it was either because it was 4 dollars and of a character I really liked, or it was a very distinct, yeah that’s the character and not oh a very generic looking figure… Cool…
