I didn’t want to visit the US for at least 3 years even before this.
We’ve traveled to the US regularly over the last decade or so.
Won’t be doing that again until it gets back to normal.
You lost me with the kidnapped people off the streets without a fair trial or probable cause.

So glad I got to visit and spend extensive time there before the rich kids lost their fucking minds and brought it here. I was able to experience the US and all it had to offer in its better years.

Why the hell would I visit the US?
I’ve pretty much absorbed enough animosity to never want to visit the USA for the remainder of my life. It’s a shame; Hawaii was nice when I visited in my teenage years, as well as California. But ever since 2016 I’ve had a continued decrease in my trust in the country, and we’re sufficiently past a point where even if a new administration took power decisively, I’d still know that MAGA is lurking in the shadows, ever waiting to turn it into a tyrannical kleptocracy that sees my country as little more than “Lebensraum”.
I refuse to be conquered, and I refuse to associate with or patronize those who would be my conquerors. I know there’s a good number of moral, upstanding people that live in the USA, but this has to be one of those situations where I say, “I can’t hang out with you as long as you’re still living with that other guy,” for the sake of my own health and safety.
I used to live there and I don’t think I can see myself ever going back. Besides the five year social media history, I’m half brown, and I’d hate to get picked up by the fascists in that fascist country. It’s changed so much. I used to love it there. Summertimes in Minneapolis, the state fair, watching WWE at the Target Centre. I don’t know if it can come back after Cheeto McFatFuck’s ruination on the world stage, but I hope it can.
