Do people really think a Matriarchy would be the exact same as a Patriarchy?

No, men fear a matriarchy because a) they wouldn’t be in power, and b) it would prove they shouldn’t be.

    2. Fun fact: did you know the drink bloody Mary was named after a real and very googlable person?

I’ve noticed a pattern of your posting in quick succession in line with your profile theme. Hmmm

    4. Men didn’t like what their mommies punished them for being naughty. So they grow up fearing women, therefore they have to be controlling to seem more masculine. I guess they think that women would take no prisoners and get super protective of pedos and other bad people.

    5. A matriarchy wouldn’t be the same, and likely wouldn’t be as bad as the patriarchy. Particularly if we learn from it. That said, it would still be bad. There are evil, corrupt and stupid women just like there are men.

I’d prefer we move away from either. Non-hierarchical societal structure would be so much healthier for us as a species. A Partnership Society, Egalitarian, or other system built on collective well being and mutual respect would be much better.

We shouldn’t limit our vision for the future to such a simple “this or that” when there’s far better options than both.

    6. FWIW, OP- I understand the point you are trying to make. We don’t need a patriarchal or a matriarchal society. Do I think things would be different with a matriarchal society, of course. Can I tell you that would be better? I can’t, because it hasn’t existed in any developed country. We need to be an egalitarian society where we do not ask these questions, or consider gender as important.

Yes. Mostly because of how bad people tend to be at actually imagining and understanding new things.

There is a great deal of anti-male rhetoric on social media just like there is anti-female rhetoric.
Much of the MAGA supporters and leadership in our states and in Congress are hate-filled bigots of the womanly persuasion.
The current administration is rife with abusive women.
Using current real-world evidence, it would be safe to say a “matriarchy” wouldn’t exactly bring much Kumbaya and handholding.

I actually do think that if women would weild the same kind of power they would use it in shitty ways too. Having power over people is necessarily shitty, and that is the problem

Considering matriarchies are *not* hierarchical, it would be better for literally everyone.

But this is Reddit, and no room for nuance, so people think it’s rage bait 🙂

    11. Idk man ever since I read about Gertrude Baniszewski I’ve understood that all humans have capacity for absolute cruelty.

The UK still hasn’t recovered from the damage Margaret Thatcher did either.
It’s a weird point to make anyway, Patriarchy is bad for obvious reasons, how is a gender reversal better?
Feminism is about equality. Making a point like this is like those movies that define feminism as a woman who also embodies toxic masculinity.
Maybe this is just engagement farming or something?

    12. no its because women rule with emotions so their wants and needs are constantly changing instead of logic. When emotions are high, logic is low. Not all women, just most of them.

    13. Had plenty of bosses. Pretending one gender is better than another is cute.

Shhhhh. It’s obviously a secret. It’s called don’t be a shitty person. If you can’t beat a labradoodle as a good person, you’re a shitty boss.

    14. Broadly, no. I don’t think it would be the same. It’s kind of implied in that they have different terms. In what ways would it be different? Hard to say. Power corrupts and there plenty of cunts, male and female. So, different? Yes. Better? Probably not really.

    15. Y’all should watch the show creamerie. It’s like handmaids tale, but gender swapped, and a comedy

People tend to believe that deep down everyone thinks like them. Conservatives jumped on the 15-minute city concept and assumed that it was a ploy to create ghettos and segregate people _because that’s what they’d do._

    17. Fred Hampton said it best. Paraphrasing, you don’t fight fire with fire, you fight it with water. You don’t fight capitalism with black capitalism. You fight it with socialism. Unnecessary hierarchy of any kind needs to go

Hard to say as I don’t believe that, I think in general women are much kinder. Maybe someone that doesn’t want women in power would however think like that. I think, you get rid of religious ideas and you get rid of a big part of it. Or at least a big part of what helps sustain it into each new generation.
