I do not fully agree with this meme. It depends on which country you are living in. If you are living in a country where universal healthcare does not exist and is mainly financed privately (without the company taking up your costs for the insurance), you are definitely screwed. For instance, look at other developed countries, most of which have universal healthcare or a mixed system with it (not meant for the non-mixed models). In these countries where universal healthcare exists, you are not screwed but respected, and you do not have to take on the costs at all. The costs are financed by the taxes, which is a good thing (well, in my case, where I am living). Costs are not covered if you want to make surgeries that are not for emergency situations (example: liposuction, and you are not at risk [not overweight]).
