No one has ever had a problem calling me by my current surname, even though it’s not my surname at birth. I changed it at 16, legally, like a lot of transgender individuals do. Interesting that this is never a problem for them but it is when it’s someone calling themselves Sarah when they used to be Steve. Suggests to me it’s not the name that’s the problem
