Turns out Amazon has anti union propaganda in their break rooms.

I don’t get any of these benefits btw because im employed by a contracted company for janitorial work, would like to work someplace else but I had to look for 6 months to find a job
Edited this job to a job because I was unemployed before and was looking for anything

    2. “Amazon invests in you”

Must be nothing but thoughts and prayers lol, if baldie is capable of those without bursting into flames.

    3. Your employer telling you that the laws in place to protect you are bad should be illegal, but apparently the only consequence is a fine that ends up paid by the workers themselves thorough more hours, less benefits and overall a more stressful work environment

    4. Did they by any chance offer those to staff before the Union started trying to organise?

Or is that a handy list of things the Union has achieved even for non-members?

I’m in a massive union and they don’t do shit but collect dues and disappear when you need something and design the rules in a way that makes it extraordinarily difficult to leave it. I’m mostly pro union for people who want one but they are not always good.

    6. They are allowed to have anti union propaganda.

I’d like to have a debate with someone from Amazon corporate about the upsides and downsides for employees though. That’d be a fun way to run a union vote.

    7. It’s wild. They’ve propagandized it so hard that even their warehouse workers are against it.

    8. If a company goes out of its way to dismiss something, it must have value to its employees. Just saying…

My union has secured me a 10% pay rise over the last 2 years. Increased my annual leave by 6 days a year to 45 days in total including bank holidays (all fully paid).

So yeah, unions are pretty good.

    10. I work in an emergency department, I see countless, patients come in for overuse injuries. These patients vary but are often relatively young. I’ve basically resorted to telling coworkers to put a progress note in their chart that “patient works for Amazon” in their chart to make it easier for a class action suit or something when and if their abuses can be punished. These are otherwise healthy individuals who are going to be permanent injured because they simply need a few weeks off to recover and get physical therapy but will have to work every day because Amazon demands it and does not have any protections for its workers.

If we errode the labor protections unions have literally fought wars over and died for because “union dues bad” it would be a shame. The coal miners in West Virginia, the workers of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, and countless other heros and casualties will have died in vein.

They may not guarantee those things, but depending on the union and organization it sure as hell helps

Guessing that Amazon in most states is employment at will so you could be fired at anytime without any notice, vs union employment where there are protections

    13. I’m part of a union. My contract is about to expire. My CBA says that if my contract expires I get 30hours pay times the number of years of service if my contract is not renewed. That in and of itself pays for all my dues paid over the years.

My CBA ensured I was paid during the government shutdown when I wouldn’t have been otherwise.

And then there’s the better healthcare, better raises, and other worker protections.

Unions are a no brainer unless you’re a moron, and I’m not even that thrilled with my union.

    14. Funny enough this kind of shit actually works. Because my mom used to work in a cafe in a pretty big casino and unironically they left the union because they were convinced its better for them (the employees) to not be union lol.
