If this pans out, imagine the parties we’ll throw science edition. Cheers to the lab wizards saving the day

    2. So do they have to make a virus  to transfer this new dna to your cells to tell them how to remove the hiv dna?

Or have they just taken an infected cell taken the dna out and “cleaned” it?

Any information at all beyond this picture.

      Oh

“HIV RNA levels rebounded in all four participants who had antiretroviral interruption, but one patient had a delayed rebound of almost 16 weeks along with a significant drop in the HIV reservoir.

“This is the most promising result but only seen in one person,”

It only kinda worked in one person for only 16 weeks before it came back.

    3. CRISPR always makes me think of an Airfryer.

Would make for a pretty good brand name, actually.

    4. CRISPR gene editing shows real promise, but this headline oversells it. Current trials show temporary results in limited participants, not permanent cure yet.

Oh ffs, this again? A claim with no papers and still nothing to show for it? Fuck misinformation like this

    6. It really is wild to watch the development of HIV / AIDS treatments today… if you were around in the 80s… yikes.

    7. There’s no link to the article, so this is basically useless. I’m assuming this about someone having a positive result that might potentially lead to better medicine in 10 years.

    8. Now I can’t wish for someone I don’t like to catch hiv. Great now which STD should I wish for my foes to get upon them

Assuming this is true, US Healthcare is like the Mafia, does not like cures but just treatment. This would threaten their business model. People with this knowledge would end up dead.

This is great, but also kind of depressing. Depending on the tech needed if we didn’t ignore aids for awhile as it was considered a gay disease we could’ve had this cure a decade ago or more.

    11. HIV CURED

      5 years later

BREAKING NEWS A NEW STRAIN OF HIV THAT’S MORE RESILIENT HAS MUTATED AND IS NOW IMMUNE TO ANY CURES AND IS NOW AIRBORNE, IT CAUSES MUTATIONS IN YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM NAMED:
      HUMAN
      IMMUNITY
      MUTATIONS.

    12. And just like MRNA vaccines, the Anti-Science crowd will demonize it and purposefully spread HIV more, because the strongest will survive. And Science and medicine actually just kill more people.

      ;_;

    13. It’s not near if no Bio-tech develops it at large scale. They makes way more money from selling life-long treatments, It’s basically a subscription to stay alive

    14. question: will the ultimate cure bring super carelessness and even more debauchery again, especially in the gay community?
