I mean when you have dependants it means you’re easier to keep in line, whether that’s a mortgage, a wife and kids or just something tying you down to where you currently live/work.

I don’t know any single/childless people that have a problem with this. It’s 100% understandable.

That’s why I kinda like my job. Two person teams that for the most part manage our own schedules. As long as there’s at least one person in the room management doesn’t care too much because we keep the place running (unless it becomes excessive obviously).

The less you tell corporate, the better. I’ve seen plenty of competent, highly skilled parents belittled or shafted simply because they put their kids first.
Sad truth is, the less you’re seen (wfh/comittments) the more you’re forgotten.

Not just corporate. Society in general believes your life and your responsibilities are more important. If that line that we’ve all seen in movies so many times has ever worked d “Don’t kill me, I’ve got a wife and kids,” that’s proof enough.
“Damn I was going to kill you, but you’ve informed me that you have connections in this world, so you get to live.”
