I remember talking to someone who had an insightful take on this, which is that, while it’s not super attractive, conventionally, it’s something of a symbol of status, kind of like expensive cars, designer bags or luxury watches.

Even as a non-famous nobody woman I’m judged for no reason with insult comments on selfies. Can’t imagine what it would be like to have it everyday in tabloids, TMZ, random strangers, social media 24/7.
The irony here in all of these suddenly concerned people lol.
