Great for kindling during the occupation.

What’s with all the Nazi Germany posts on this sub lately?

    2. – Roughly 25% to 45% of Western European Jews were killed during the Holocaust.

      – The Netherlands had one of the highest death rates in Western Europe, with over 70% of its Jewish population murdered. (Versus 27% in Germany, hmmm)

I mean it probably would sell well or be one of those super messed up attic finds for the grand kiddies

I can’t imagine getting a picture of any politician as a prize for… well, anything. Such a strange time

It’s horrifying that some of those youth participated in the last forces to defend Berlin against the Red Army.

    6. My grandfather was part of the liberation of the Netherlands. For the 50th anniversary he was invited to return and stayed with a Dutch couple that were a few years younger than him. My grandparents weren’t religious zealots, but they went to church every Sunday, along with most other people of their generation near them and somehow they got to talking about religion with this couple. The Dutch couple were atheists and explained that they couldn’t believe in a god when, as kids they’d seen infants ripped from their mother’s arms by the Nazis, thrown into the air and shot. For some reason that always stood out to me. It would be hard to believe in a god that would allow for what the Nazis did to the Dutch.
