Trump won that district by 22 and van epps won by 9. This is a pretty large swing. The probability of flipping a district that is +20 one way or another is crazy low. Like if you do the binomial distribution math its unbelievably low. This was a huge swing.

He won by 9 points in a deep red district that elected Trump by 22 points. Sure, it would be better if the voters there weren’t ignorant traitors at all, but at least they’re shifting their weight a bit.

Ir was a single digit victory in a district gerrymandered to the extreme that Trump won +22. Aftyn was always extremely long odds to pull this out and the fact that it ended up being as close as it was shows just how unsafe the GOP majority currently is. If they can nearly lose what’s supposed to be a rock solid seat, just think what the results will look like in more competitive districts. Plus Epps ran on a platform of 100% support for Trump. He has to run again in a year and now he is 100% tied to Trump’s performance. If it continues the way its going, hes gonna have one hell of an anchor around his campaign to overcome.

This went from a Trump +20 district, to a down to the wire.
Yes its baffling to me how someone could still like Trump, but to have flipped this seat would mean a lot of people would have needed to change their mind, a lot of people did, but it was just shy of enough.

Stupidity. You have to be militantly stupid, to support Trump, an anyone associated with Trump. Just plain old fashioned dumb people in large numbers.

“We” aren’t dumb. The ones doing the same thing over and over and losing and never changing anything are the dumb ones.
It could be that your politics are terrible and no one wants to vote for them.

Is Tennessee, a southern state, did you expect the people that live here to suddenly have a moment of realization and swap political beliefs?

Obama helped bring the internet to rural communities, they are force fed right wing propaganda day and night. So it’s Obama fault! /s

They’re carefully tiptoe-ing around WASPs with their policies.
All the bodysnatching POC has no effect on them. Higher cost of living was already sold to them as a necessary ill. They can afford Christmas this year, it may be less presents but it’s fine.
They go to church, they watch the game on Sunday night. They get a pizza and wings. It may be $5-$10 more than they remember, but they shrug it off. Life goes on for them, and until it doesn’t, nothing will change.
