I don’t not find it hard to believe at all. 1/3 of Americans Are stupid enough to believe this is real, are dumb enough to fall for a grift, and have fallen for grifts, specifically from this man, for over 10 years.

30% of *the people* voted for this garbage – turns out 150 years on PT Barnum was in fact, an insufferable optimist.

And they let them leave? Isn’t attempting to pass counterfeit currency a felony?

I would’ve just said, “Then take it to Bank of America.” *If* this actually happened, which I doubt.

This makes me so sad. His followers actually still believe in his scams.
They are fools, but only too trusting.

And, after being separated from their money, by him, they will vote for him again.

My wife also works for a bank and about once a month someone tries to cash those in thinking they’re real money.
There’s a news report saying the story is “unproven” which may be the case but people have bought these gold Trump dollars and have tried to deposit them.

I read somewhere that these people, on some level, see the scam. But they believe that they can convince YOU to fall for it too.
To think “oh these are just morons, and we should feel bad for them”, but more likely it’s “these are bad people who are trying to sucker you”

This is an old story from a few years ago and Snopes couldn’t prove it.
They do sell these on eBay. $8 + $4 for shipping.
I’ve seen different denominations.

Not sure this scam was real, but the shoes, the cologne, the gold coins, and the watch most certainly are. Not sure if I’m remembering correctly, but isn’t there some issue and people are pissed the watches haven’t been delivered?

I used to work at a pawn shop and yes, somebody came in trying to sell one of these. We told him it had zero value.

How’d they get the picture? Did the bank employee say “No you can’t have it back yet, I gotta post this to Innstagram”, or is this story made up?

I wish I could laugh but it honestly just makes me sad. The GOP is capitalizing on people who just want things to get better. So they promise them a moon and then deliver a napkin stained with cum with ass cheeks on it drawn in crayon. They spoon feed them simple answers in a complicated world where the answers are never simple. They give them people to look down on so they can feel superior rather than desperate and self conscious. They’ve co-opted insecurity and made billions off of these people. Yeah, a lot of them a bastard coated bastards who bought into hateful shit but damn it they’re vulnerable and being taken advantage of.

Maybe this is the solution….we start taking monetary advantage of the cult and then laugh at them when they are humiliated….in the name of the talking sweet potato of course
