It’s a beautiful image but also demonstrates just how impossibly good Syd Mead was compared to his peers.
Forget content, Syd’s use foreground, mid and background to create depth, his composition and shade/shadow and texture make Klaus’ look a bit amateurish.
I’m practicing my rendering/illustration this weekend so I’m looking at a lot of reference material

The Klaus and red trucks threw me for a second. I thought this was some kind of retro futuristic Santa operation.
