The prime minister has apologised to a head teacher after leading primary school children in a version of the viral 6-7 dance meme.
Sir Keir Starmer visited Welland Academy in Peterborough with Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson on Monday to promote the expansion of the free school meals programme.
During the visit, Sir Keir was reading with pupils when one pointed out they were on page 67. The prime minister made the juggling hand gesture that accompanies the reference, prompting class-wide hilarity.
"You know children get into trouble for saying that our in school," a teacher told him afterwards. "We are not over that yet, the 6-7, it's still very much a thing."
As he left the room, Sir Keir told head teacher Jo Anderson it had been a "bit wild" in the class, only to be told the dance was banned at the school

it’s not a thing. it’s a good thing it doesn’t deserve to be a thing and shouldnt be a thing. Obviously gonna end with crypto scams and a crash and burn into unpopularity
I mean the PM was in the class, it was never going to be orderly as there was probably armed guards standing outside the room and all around the build along with aides and stuff, and you know, they are expanding kids not being starving in schools. BUT THE MEME DANCE!
But I guess this is disgusting, or at least a good way for the press to distract from Reform being literal racists and Nazis. lol
This is not a facepalm in any way. ‘Reprimanded’ was told it was banned in the school (primary schools are always banning ‘fads’).
People hating on this are just being silly. It’s like people forget that they did stupid shit when they were kids that older generations disliked. This is harmless. Every generation has their lingo and cultural phenomena. When I was a kid everyone knew to be true (it isn’t) that Marilyn Manson had two ribs removed to blow himself. Kids today say 6-7 and everyone wants to lose their shit over it.
More people mad about kids dancing and not a single person mad at bills being passed or props in their city. But let’s be angry about KIDS FUCKING DANCING!!!!!!!! There’s wars and famine but no no no KIDS DANCING!!!! Homeless and unemployed at it’s highest in decades BUT KIDS DANCING!!!!!!! NOT IN MY UNIVERSE!!!!! PEOPLE ARE BEING ABDUCTED AND KILLED IN THE STREETS BUT CHILDREN DANCING!!!!!!!! Fucking idiots I hope humanity crashes soon.
I agree it is annoying but if you really want it to stop then all adults need to embrace it so it becomes less cool to kids rather than banning and being upset by it which makes it more fun for kids. I swear people too readily forget what it was like to be young, innocent, always right, and smarter than every adult you know.
I don’t like Kier Starmer. I think he’s doing a terrible job as Labour leader. This, however, is nothing. Why do schools hate this 6-7 thing anyway?
Any mention of 6-7 in my kids’ school and they automatically get all of their accumulated “house points”* deducted.
*the school has pupils separated into “houses” (not like Harry Potter lol.) Basically each class is divided into four houses, named after famous historical figures, MLK is one of them. So each class has 25% of their students in House MLK etc.
Whichever house has the most points at the end of the school year gets to go on a trip or to do something special in the last week of the school year.
I don’t know if anyone actually gives two shits about this, but I typed it all out so now you have to read it all lol (sorry.)
