Saying you can’t tell whether the tariffs had an effect, because he only sees headline inflation. Gee. If only there was a government agency dedicated to gathering specific, detailed data…

    2. He is poorly arguing that tariffs are just a small part of either:

      A. The Economy

      B. Trump’s total policy impact unto the economy

Neither argument fully addresses her question nor do they defend the tariff roll back.

    3. No, you get on the scale to *measure* how much you weigh.
Before you get on the scale you *assume* you know how much you weigh.

Kind of like how we do not just *assume* tariffs increase prices.
We go into a supermarket and measure the difference, so we *know* they do.

    4. I think he’s acknowledging that prices are going up but saying it’s not exactly clear how much of that is due to tariffs. Which is fair, since a lot of factors play into inflation: deficit spending, global pressures, income inequality, etc

    5. These people cower and scare away every time they’re asked a question in the media. They divert, downplay, and outright refuse to acknowledge knowing anything about any kind of question where they may have to accept responsibility. Suck it up already and admit you’re wrong, you’re all a bunch of pathological liars

The analogy is pretty obvious. He’s saying that just like there is more than one part of your body being weighed when you weigh yourself, there are many factors leading to increased prices. But according to his analogy, it’s definitely one of them. If not two.

He’s trying to say you don’t know the effect of one part of a thing, just how the whole thing is working.

In reality, the whole part of a plan is never actually going to work. That’s why you amend the plan as you go to try and make the whole thing work better over time.

I’m not advocating for tariffs, just saying that’s how plans work.

    8. What she’s attempting to say is “everything is more expensive. You don’t know how much of that is because of tariffs”.

So let’s answer her question: I’m 400 pounds the answer to the question is “too much”. If I’m 400 pounds I can say with certainty that my arm weighs too much. It’s a significant part of why my body weighs too much.

If I’m 400 pounds I’m very overweight. My arm is very overweight.

If I could lose 25% of the weight in my arm my whole body would weigh less.

If the tarriffs are dropped, the cost of living drops. Simple.

That’s how the host should’ve responded to that terribly cryptic and awful attempt at a gotcha.

    9. WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump says he has agreed to sell the nation’s most advanced fighter jet to Saudi Arabia despite concerns that China could gain access to the plane’s vaunted American technology.

Trump’s White House hosts Saudi Crown Prince with big deals being inked
The sale to the Middle Eastern nation, whose top trading partner is China, was reaffirmed Tuesday during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to Washington.

Some in the Republican administration also have been wary that selling the F-35 to Saudi Arabia will upset Israel’s qualitative military edge over its neighbors, especially at a time when Trump is depending on Israeli support for the success of his Gaza peace plan.

Israel, which deployed the F-35 in its 12-day war against Iran in June, is among 19 other nations that already have the plane or have agreements to buy it.
