Anni-Frid Lyngstad, best known as Frida or "the brunette from ABBA" was born in Norway in 1945 at the tail end of WWII, the result of an affair between an occupying German soldier named Alfred Haase and a local Norwegian woman named Synni Lyngstad.

Haase was remanded to Germany before Frida's birth. He claimed he did not know Synni Lyngstad was pregnant. Synni died a year later from kidney failure.

Frida was taken from Norway to Sweden by her grandmother to avoid the punishments dealt out to "German children" after the war. She grew up believing her father had died returning to Germany.

Haase later recognized details of his own life after reading an article about Frida in the German magazine Bravo. Father and daughter met for the first time in 1977 during the height of ABBA's fame. While the first few meetings between Haase and Frida were happy, they later became estranged.
