I was in high school in the early 80s. Some of the kids….man.
Our valedictorian had been stashed away in a mental institution until the Red Cross could get him out. He was not mentally ill. Traumatized, but sane.
Another girl had a panic attack over a class camping trip. Turns out, she had been hiding in the woods – for 2 years.

TDL the Philippines had refugee camps for Cambodians. And this was a brutal and senseless genocide. My mom was 1 of 12 children. Only her and her sister survived.

It still upsets me that Dr Haing S Ngor survived all of that only to be executed by thugs in the US.
