Something really odd about the exchange. Maybe Mamdani worked Trump like the senile narcissist he is. Maybe Mamdani has dirt on Trump like some Epstein material in NYPD’s possession. Maybe a little bit of both.

Trump absolutely expected that. He’s been moderating his language against Mamdani ever since Mamdani won.
Game recognizes game. Trump can see that Zohran, too, is a Main Character. That he, too, is Strong. And that’s why Donald likes him. Treats him as a peer. Because he’s not a gutless, spineless, worm like Schumer or Jeffries who he only acknowledges to mock or insult. Because Donald is *very good* at identifying whom he can safely walk all over. And this guy ain’t some limp-wristed liberal.
He also treats Bernie Sanders with a respect he does not extend to the democrats. Because Bernie, too, is a man of conviction, beliefs, and integrity. It’s not that Donald respects integrity- he probably doesn’t know the word- it’s that he can identify that this man is an rock solid monolith, of ironclad conviction and unwavering purpose. He’s not going to roll over and show his belly if Donald barks at him. So Donald doesn’t.
