Trump knew he was lying when he said it. His greatest strength as a politician is knowing what he can say that will connect with enough voters to get him elected. Truth and Trump have no relationship whatsoever. Even when he speaks the truth, it’s only a coincidence that the truth and what he said are the same thing.
