They never listen

    1. Keep in mind that redistricting dilutes the ‘winning’ party’s vote totals in some districts to concentrate the ‘losing’ party in others. The total number of votes doesn’t change. Which means that small % changes in voting can have massive repercussions state-wide.

I’m actually suspecting that this (having red-state gerrymandering be blocked) is tacitly supported by Republicans behind the scenes, because the generic ballot does *not* look good for them right now. You stretch that vote too thin and suddenly a slightly high Democrat turnout turns Texas solid blue.

    2. Take it even further, gerrymander the republican party to the dustbin of history. IDC if it looks bad, something’s gotta be done to stop the fascist takeover

It’s also possible if the Texas redistricting happens that several of those redrawn republican districts flip because of the Trump backlash especially among Hispanics.

Ultimately though partisan drawing of districts shouldn’t even be a thing.

Just pisses me off how hypocritical the Right has been about it. Trump ordered Texas to redraw their maps before 2026 midterms and nobody cared.

California put it up for a vote and people lost their minds.

    5. This is why we have to play their game. We’re better at it because they’re genuinely a bunch of losers and idiots.

Texas announces it’s going to unilaterally disenfranchise democratic voters? California announces they’re going to put a redistricting measure on their ballot. One is illegal and aggressive, the other is the perfect retaliatory measure. Legal, upholdable, and representative of the people’s wishes. Gavin Newsome may not be ideal, but he’s the first Democrat I’ve seen willing to get in the mud and fight those fascist pigs. More power to him!
