    1. the he should be totally ok with letting go of all of his assets and giving them to those in need for free.

    2. Yeah, think he’s pushing for the Skynet timeline. Where work and money are irrelevant because everyone’s dead and the world’s on fire.

In 5-10 years Elon will still be talking about how people just need to get a new job and pull themselves up by their bootstraps and stop complaining about the robot that took their job. He’ll probably actively spend money to defeat political candidates that are pro UBI.

    4. I wish a smart person (not Elon) would game this out.

I don’t see any kind of net positive outcome for the general public when the greediest of the greedy are the ones who own the AI.

Then he should give all his money away to show us how much he believes this will happen

    6. But not in a good way. The oligarchy will hoard the actual resources, food, land, etc. You can optionally work for them, but wont pay any more than the minimum that they can pay a machine (essentially zero). Money will be irrelevant because everyone will be in poverty and inflation will be insane.

    7. They said this in the 50s and 60s as well as technology began progressing. The only thing that happened was in the 80s, the capitalists decided that any new gains belong to them. And them alone.

The same will happen with AI. They’ll cull the population before they pay people to sit at home.

Also, soon your car will drive you to work without needing your intervention or attention; since 2018!

What I don’t get is how conservative neoliberal economic policy square with an AI driven post scarcity fantasy? To my eye it sure as shit doesn’t.

    10. Yeah cause people like Musk are just going to give things to people who aren’t working. Since they love to do that so much now.

      /s.

Mr Musk is probably absolutely correct here. AI WILL replace many functions and make work optional.

Of course the options will be to compete, in an ever increasing pool of talent, for non replaceable jobs or starve.

Those are both options. Unfortunate ones for the vast majority, but options none the less.

    12. Can it make politician’s irrelevant? Bills written and passed by AI..Heck, how about treaties and trade deals?

    13. Subtext, regular people will become some kind of cattle equivalent. They don’t need money, they’re just given some basics to survive and are the product.

    14. Any sort of timeline from Musk should be treated as an absolute joke. He’s always making grandiose claims about how fast he will do something and he never even comes close to meeting those deadlines. Has he even come close to delivering on any of his claims?

Prove it Leon. Stop asking Tesla board for more, and start giving away at least half of what you already possess. Then I’ll start listening to

    16. Ai is no where close to doing dick. And we don’t have enough processing power for it to be relevant. Plus AI can’t build houses. Can’t do surgeries.
