    1. I used to have a ruler like that (my father was a draftsman), but never knew the purpose of the letters on it.

    2. It’s called lettering, and the stencil is for noobs. We practiced until we produced that precision freehand.

    3. Thank you for this. I always wondered how the letterings in blue prints and machine drawings were done but never got to actually research it.
